Jean Helen Loftis Carlson 1925 ~ 2011 Jean Helen Loftis Carlson passed away June 5, 2011 by natural causes surrounded by her family in Sandy, Utah. She was born on October 1, 1925 in Ferron, Utah to Robert Reed Loftis and Zona Gail Killpack Loftis. She married her sweetheart Henry Eugene Carlson on September 18, 1943 in Murray, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. She graduated from South High School. Jean loved her work at Woodstock Elementary as a playground attendant for 21 years, all the children called her Granny. She was a loving mother to three sons and five daughters. She loved sewing and making gifts for her family and she loved gardening. She served her church as the volleyball coach while her three older daughters were attending young womens. She is survived by her children Steven (Debra) Carlson, Sharlene (Bill) Atkinson, Lynnette (Steve) Hulse, all from Sandy, Utah; Kathryn (Robert) Brewster, Washington, Utah; Penny Olsen, Taylorsville, Utah; Charles (Clara) Carlson, Herriman, Utah; Brad (Jennie) Carlson, Murray, Utah; 25 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; two sisters Donna Lee Christiansen and Gail Engebretsen; one brother Robert Loftis; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, daughter Sherry Pentico, granddaughter Carrie Hulse Hillyard and sister Carol K. Loftis. Special thanks to the loving care of her Lifepath Hospice Team- Nurse Ericka, Bath-Aid Lisa and Volunteer Mike. Also thanks to Sunrise Assisted Living Staff for loving our Mom and taking such great care as if she was their mother. Funeral services Friday, June 10, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Little Cottonwood 9th Ward, 1160 East Vine Street (6100 South). Viewing on Thursday, June 9, 2011, 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S State, Murray, and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment Murray City Cemetery.
