Chester "Chick" Fishback, 77, of Springfield died at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday at Humana Hospital Springfield following a long illness.
Mr. Fishback was born March 7, 1909, in Waverly, the son of William and Anna Fishback. A resident of Springfield most of his life, Mr. Fishback was married to Iona Baggerly Stanberry in 1961 at Taylorville. He was the former owner of Chick's Garage.
Surviving are his wife, Iona, one stepson, Thomas Stanberry of Springfield; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Raymond (Edith) Gilman and Mrs. Iva Tuttle, both of Springfield, and Mrs. Bela (Delores) Sator of Dawson; two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Metzger of Petersburg and Mrs. Elinora Lawonn of Rogers, Ark.; 17 step-grandchildren and 27 step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Vancil Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Steven J. Mall officiating. Burial will be in Waverly East Cemetery at Waverly.
