HOWARD, CALVIN
Calvin Howard was born in 1831 in North Carolina.
During the Civil War he served in Company K, Texas Cavalry, Stones Regiment under the command of Chasm.
The regiment was known as the 2nd Texas Cavalry, Partisan Rangers. They were also known as the 6th Texas Cavalry Regiment.
He fought under J.W. Throckmorton who later served as Governor of Texas. The 2nd Cavalry fought in the Red River campaign, and was surrendered by E.K. Smith on May 26, 1865.
Howard lived in Austin, Travis County and was married to a Josephine Howard on December 3, 1883 in Johnson County, Texas. The wife died in Houston on April 14, 1934.
He died on July 3, 1909. Calvin Howard was a farmer before being admitted to the Confederate Men's Home on August 1, 1902 where he died.
