Obituary:

Arthur James Innes, 91, of Ashland, Wisconsin, passed peacefully into his eternal life on Sunday, May 10, 2015, at the Golden Living Center-Court Manor, in Ashland. Art was born on May 7, 1924, in Ashland the son of William James and Marie Irene (Desonia) Innes.

Art will be remembered for his ‘loving heart’, his friendly greetings and gentle nature; reasons why he was named the ‘King for a year’ (2013-2014) at Golden Living Center. Art served others throughout his life. Whether as a young man: helping at the family homestead in Cedar, mowing lawns in the summer in Ashland, or helping cut Christmas trees, Art always quietly and peacefully did the tasks asked of him. For over 20 years, prior to automated garbage trucks, Art was known by Ashland residents as the friendly man who collected their garbage. Being with Art meant that when he saw someone he recognized he’d always wave his hand and call out a friendly greeting. Art loved birds, playing bingo, doing jigsaw puzzles and being with friends.

Art is survived by: his brother-in-law, Donald Burm of Superior, Wisconsin; nieces: Sister Donna Innes, CSA of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, Mary Jo (John) Manion and Susan (Dan) Gigliotti of Superior, Wisconsin, Mary Lou Bratland of Baraboo, Wisconsin, Ann Aulman of Spring, Texas; nephews: William (Cindy) Innes of West Salem, Wisconsin, Patrick Innes of Sebastopol, California, Father Ben Innes, OFM and Kevin (Michelle) Innes of Portland, Oregon, Jack (Linda) Burm of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, Donald Burm and William Burm of Superior, Wisconsin and by his great and great-great nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his roommate and good friend, William (Billy) Kraai.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, brother, William Innes, sisters, Lucille DeVoe and Alice Burm; nieces, Diana Logan and Gayle DeVoe as well as nephews, David Burm, Francis (Butch) DeVoe and Daniel Innes.

A visitation for Art will take place at the Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Ashland, beginning at 11 a.m., Friday, May 15, 2015 and continuing until the hour of the service.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place, at the Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, at 12 noon, Friday, May 15, 2015. Father Paul Paré, O.F.M., will be the Celebrant.

Interment in the Saint Agnes Cemetery, in Ashland, will immediately follow the Mass.

The family of Art would like to thank the caring staff and nurses at Golden Living Center-Court Manor who made a peaceful home for Art.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to our Ashland chapel.
