Helen Barnes Jackson, 84, 125 Skyland Circle, Gray, died Saturday, May 31, 2003, at Appalachian Christian Village after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Jackson was a lifelong Washington County resident. She was a daughter of the late Virgil and Anna Grace Sherfey Barnes and Nannie Kate Deakins Barnes. Mrs. Jackson was a member of Gray United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by one brother, William Barnes; and two sisters, Bernice Fitzgerald Hale and Jessie Mae Barnes. Survivors include her husband, Vernon W. Jackson; one daughter, Kubalene Hobbs, Gray; two brothers, Dwight Barnes and Ivan Barnes; two grandchildren, Angela Smith and Lynn Hobbs; and five great-grandchildren. The family of Mrs. Helen Barnes Jackson will receive friends Monday, June 2, from 6-8 p.m. in the Gray Funeral Home chapel. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. with Rev. James Henry, Rev. Ralph Kidd and Rev. David Clark. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Washington County Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Lynn Hobbs, Eric Barnes, Randy Barnes, George Barnes, Jeff Broyles and Darrell Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be Galen Fitzgerald, Robert Barnes, Dan Kincheloe and Sidney Clear. Gray Funeral Home, Gray, Tenn., 423-477-3171, is in charge of the arrangements
