OBITUARY :
FRANK SERRA, 85, of Hagerstown and formerly of Essex, Md., died Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at his home.

Born Dec. 31, 1921, in Bluefield, W.Va., he was the son of the late Alessandro and Cora Hunt Serra.

He served in the U.S. Army, during World War II. He earned the Purple Heart. He was a Disabled American Veteran.

He retired from National Wire in Baltimore, as a machinist.

He was a member of the VFW of Baltimore.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Ann Senters Serra; four daughters, Linda Wagner of Hagerstown, Karen King of White Marsh, Md., Debbie Salisbury of Edgewood, Md. and Vickie Serra of North Carolina; one sister, Loretta Serra of Bluefield, W.Va.; one brother, Wilson Serra of Vinton, Va.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Gene Serra, Columbus Serra and George Serra.

Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel in Hagerstown. The Rev. Loyal H. Vanderveer will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
