Mrs. Catherine Craighton died Monday afternoon, August 23rd, at 5 o'clock at her home at Skime at 5 o'clock at her home at Skime in Reine township. Old age and a stroke suffered five days previous brought about the end.
Funeral services were held at the C.L. Craighton home near Skieme yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Rev C.B. Nervig and burial was made in Pine Ridge cemetery.
Pall bearers were two grand sons and afour great grand sons, namely, George and James Valentine, Harry and Oscar Sutherland, and Glen and Harold Bird.
Mrs. Craighton was a daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Andrew COLE and was b. Pennsylvania, April 16, 1852. She was married to Simry Craighton in 1872 in Franklin Co IA. The family lived at Hampton, IA, Gary, S.Dakota and Hinckley before coming to Roseau Co and settling in the Skime community twenty-three years ago. Her church affiliation was that of German Lutheran.
Left to mourn her death are the following sons and daughters: Dell of SIous City, IA; Bert of Sandstone; Mrs. E.E. (Mary) Bird, International Falls; Dan, Leslie and Chad of Skime. One sister is living at Hampton, IA. There are twenty-two grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Seven children born to Mr. and Mrs. Craighton are dead. Five of them died as children and two El and John died after they were grown up.
