Otis L. Jones, 85, of 3115 Avenue R, died Wednesday in a Wichita Falls hospital following a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Hampton Vaughn Funeral Home with the Rev. Tiff Covington, pastor of the Pleasant Mound Freewill Baptist Church, and the Rev. Earl Scroggins, pastor of the First Freewill Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Vashti Cemetery.

A native of Comanche County, Texas, Jones was born September 6, 1890. He had lived in Wichita Falls four years and resided in Vashti, Texas for 20 years before moving to Wichita Falls. He was a member of the Pleasant Mound Freewill Baptist Church at Buffalo Springs, Texas and was a veteran of WWI.

Survivors include his wife, Opal; five daughters, Mrs. Gerald Hyde of Midland, Texas, Mrs. Dean Young of Hyattsville, Maryland, Mrs. James F. Hayes of Huntsville, Alabama, Mrs. Sam K. Johnston of Houston and Mrs. Jimmie Lynn Jones of Wichita Falls and 10 grandchildren._
