TEACHER SPOTLIGHT - Miss Beverly Frye

Miss Frye is originally from Johnstown, Pa, and is a graduate of Westminster College. For several years she served as a professional in Girl Scouts, working in public relations, establish day camps, supervising wilderness trips and training volunteers in Michigan, Pennsylvania and New York.

Utilizing her journalism major, she wrote for a weekly newspaper for a year. A desire to be closer to children led Miss Frye to enter the Intensive Teacher Training Program at S.U.N.Y., New Paltz.

She taught in Johnstown and Tarrytown, N.Y. prior to coming to Wantagh in 1959. She has taught fourth, fifth and sixth grade in the Wantagh School, enjoying all those levels but admitting some favoritism toward sixth.

Miss Frye is reluctant to leave the children but is looking forward to spending hours at her easel painting; reading a long list of "when I have time" books and taking courses. She enjoys tennis and gardening and hopes to have more time for both. She is anticipating an active, exciting and challenging life.
