Mrs. Orrel E. Purkey, 71, formerly of 1000 Chester, died Tuesday in a Topeka hospital. She had been ill several months.
She was born April 15, 1900 west of Hoyt in Jackson County and lived in the Elmont community before she moved to Topeka 5 years ago. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in the Elmont community.
Her husband, Robert W. Purkey, died April 10, 1970.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Mrs. Wanda Brown, Berryton, and Mrs. June Phillips, Castro Valley, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Mina Purkey, San Diego Calif.; a brother, Claude Marple, Los Angeles, Calif; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday at Davidson-Duff Funeral Home with burial in Half Day Cemetery at Elmont.
