Helen Rhea Mitchell, 79, of Rogersville went to the arms of Jesus Thursday March 21, 2013

A lifelong resident of Hawkins County, she retired from Mt. Carmel Elementary after 20 years of service as a cook. She was a member of Fudges Chapel United Methodist Church.

Helen was an avid quilter. She was like a mamaw to all who met her.

She was preceeded in death by her husband of 56 years, George C. Mitchell, two sons, David and Marty Mitchell and her parents, James and Margaret Taylor.

Helen is survived by her son, Don Mitchell, Rogersville; one daughter, Jeanette Mitchell, Kingsport; nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; four sisters, Ada Oliver and husband Lewis, Barbara Curry, Linda Heitz and Elva Bright; two brothers, James Earl Taylor and wife Phyllis and Ed Taylor and wife Angie; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 till 7pm Saturday at Carter -Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill or anytime at the home of her granddaughter, Tina Morelock.

A funeral service will follow at 7pm with Pastor Ronnie Cassidy and Pastor Tim Hodges officiating. Music will be provided by Tammy Short.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2pm Sunday at Church Hill Memory Gardens. Those who plan to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 1:30pm Sunday.

Pallbearers will be Cody Morelock, Brandon Mitchell, Josh Mitchell and James Burton, Brad Morelock and other family members.

Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill is serving the Mitchell family.
