John E. Stang, 56, of Lehighton, died Wednesday in the Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, Lehighton. He was the husband of Lorrie (Smith) Stang. They recently observed their first wedding anniversary.

He worked in management for various hotels in New York City, N.Y., for many years, and most recently was a self-employed pilot car driver subcontracted by Glaser Escort, Hereford, Berks County.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he was a son of the late John A. Stang and Caroline A. (Talarico) Stang.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, Lehighton.

Surviving in addition to his widow are a son, Andrew John Russell of Lehighton; two stepsons, David Curtis Jr. in Nebraska and Edward Curtis of Lehighton; a stepdaughter, Debra Curtis in Lehighton; a sister Lisa, wife of Mike Debback of Cleveland; an aunt and a nephew.
