MOUNT VERNON - Jean K. (Lasher) Stone, age 66, and her husband Daniel R. Stone, age 65, died June 16, 2006, in a automobile accident near Tillamook, Ore. They were camping in their RV and volunteering as park hosts for the Oregon Dept. of Fish and Wildlife. They were married in 2005, and lived in Sun City, Ariz., where they attended Lakeview United Methodist Church, and enjoyed traveling in their RV. Jean was born Feb 27, 1940, the daughter of Gerald E. and Mary John (Moore) Hunter in Evansville, Ind. She and her husband were both 1958 graduates of New Harmony High School. She was a past member of Beta Chapter of Tri Kappa in New Harmony and had earned the DAR award in 1958, and was a 4-H member for 10 years. She graduated from the Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing and had worked as a registered nurse for the Vanderburgh County School Corp. for many years. She was active in the Junior League and St. Theresa parish in Evansville, Ind. Jean enjoyed quilting, cooking, and genealogy. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond H. Lasher, and her father, Gerald E. Hunter. Surviving her are a son, Gregory H. Lasher of Portland, Ore.; her daughter, Laura J. Bobeck and husband David; her grandsons, Hunter D. and Henry S Bobeck, all of Zionville, Ind.; her mother, Mary J. Hunter of Evansville, Ind.; a stepson, Bart A. Stone of Tempe, Ariz.; her sister, Sue E. Kaetzel and husband, Ron, of Santa Rosa ,Calif.; and two nieces, Rhonda and Darlene Kaetzel, both of Seattle, Wash. Dan was a retired field representative for the Hesston Farm Implement Co. He was born August 16, 1940, son of the late Ira and Margaret (Reich) Stone in Mount Vernon, Ind. He was a Mason and a member of the Elks. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Judy (Campbell) Stone, in 2004; his brother, Dale Stone; and his parents. Surviving him are his son, Bart Stone of Tempe, Ariz.; a stepson Gregory Lasher of Portland, Ore.; stepdaughter, Laura (David) Bobeck; and two stepgrandchildren, Hunter D. and Henry S. Bobeck; his sister. Arlene Bannister of Sun City Ariz.; uncle, Leo and Ruth Stone of Mount Vernon, Ind.; aunts, Etoy and Ada Hostettler of Evansville and Esther Stone of Poseyville, Ind.; sister-in-law, Barbara Byers Stone of Fairfield Glade, Tenn.; a niece, Susan Himes; nephews, Tom and Michael Bannister; and several cousins. Memorial service for Jean and Dan will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2006, at Schneider Funeral Home, 512 Main Street, Mount Vernon, Ind. Burial will be in Bellefontaine Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time at Schneider Funeral Home. Contributions in memory of Jean and Dan can be made to the Deaconess Nursing Scholarship Fund or the New Harmony Historic Society.
