Bertha Lucille Beavers Best

Bertha Lucille Beavers Best, 92, of Athens, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, March 21, 2013 at Athens Regional Medical Center.

A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late Benson and Roxie Coffey Beavers, and was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Joel Bynum "J.B." Best Jr., and one brother, Robert Beavers. She retired from Athens Hosiery Mills and was a member of Hilltop Baptist Church in Riceville.

Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Brenda and Andy Myers of Athens and Sherry Best of Cleveland; four grandchildren, Nathan Myers and his wife, Leila, and Natalie Myers, all of Knoxville, and Nichole Myers and Noelle Myers of Athens; three great-grandsons, Maddox Myers, Weston Myers and Brandt Myers; one sister-in-law, Margaret Beavers of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Hilltop Baptist Church in Riceville with the Rev. Arliss Slack officiating. The body will lie in-state from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday prior to the service. Burial will be in McMinn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be J.R. Colloms, Daniel Colloms, Phil Hollingsworth, Nathan Myers, Zar Hicks and Keith Boggess.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
