He was the son of Charles Conklin and Mattie Poole Conklin Kelly.
On February 6, 1936 as Spencer H. Conklin, he married Elizabeth L. Kirsch at Olympia, Thurston County, Washington.

Death Takes S.H. Conklin Of Auburn
Spencer Harold Conklin of Auburn died Sunday in a hospital. He owned and operated a service station in Auburn until he became ill. Mr. Conklin was the father of Suzanne Conklin, 18, who with two other girls was injured fatally when an automobile struck them as they were crossing Highway 99 at Midway last September 2.

Rosary will be said at 7:30 o'clock this evening in the Price Funeral Home, Auburn. Requiem High Mass will be sung at 9:30 o'clock tomorrow in Holy Family Church, Auburn. Elks graveside services will be in Sumner.

Born in West Liberty, Iowa, Mr. Conklin went to Auburn in 1922. He was a mechanic for the Bothell Motor Co. for 17 years and later operated a filling station. Mr. Conklin was a member of Local 910, Teamsters' Union and the Elks Lodge, both in Kent and the Eagles' Aerie in Auburn. Surviving are his wife, Loretta E.; a son, Donald E. Conklin at home; two brothers, Clarence, Iowa City and Ralph Conklin, Durant, Iowa and a sister, Mrs. Inez Grady, Davenport, Iowa.
