Lois Elizabeth Smith-Badham was born at San Bernardino, California, November 3, 1892. Her parents brought her to Lamoni in June, 1893, where she has made her home since. Blessed by A. H. Smith in 1893. Baptized by her father when eight years of age, and came up out of the water smiling.

She graduated from the Lamoni high school in 1910, and from the shorthand and typewriting department of Graceland College in 1911.

Married to Walter G. Badham, June 1, 1913, the ceremony being performed by her father. She gave birth to a son March 20, 1914, who was named Robert George.

Mrs. Badham fell asleep, March 27, 1914. The evening before she took her babe and tenderly caressed it, and Monday evening before her decease she sang:
"A calm and quiet reigns tonight. There's not a cloud upon a single brow,
And every heart is swelling with delight, And peace is brooding sweetly o'er us now."

The night before death she sang:
"His goodness stands approved, Unchanging from day to day,
I'll drop my burden at His feet And bear a song away."

She realized that the end was near and just before passing away kissed her loved ones goodbye.

She was so kind and loving and appreciated all that loving hands could do for her. After bidding loved ones goodbye she pointed heavenward with both hands, as though she saw someone coming to her, and embraced the one with a kiss.

She was so gentle, patient, joyful, loving, and true in all her life, that she will be greatly missed by her many friends. And the sorrow and pain caused by this separation from her devoted husband, father, mother, brother and sisters, is such that only the glorious reunion at the coming of our beloved Savior can heal.

A short service was held at the house and the funeral at the church at 3 p.m., March 30, in charge of Pres. Elbert A. Smith, assisted by J.F. Garver, sermon by Elder M. M.M. Turpen. The interment was in Rose Hill.
