Alvena Anna Fischer was born on October 6, 1919 in Marlette, Michigan. She married Raymond Benjamin Burnison on November 13, 1943 at St. James Lutheran Church, Elmer Township, Sanilac Co, Michigan. He is the son of Benjamin Burnison and Mary Royer. He was born on January 18, 1921 in Wellington, Illinois and died (age 85) on January 21, 2006 in Zephyrhills, Florida. Raymond was 22 years old and Alvena was 24 years old on their wedding day. They have four children. - Lila Hegrenes
Alvena Burnison, 103, of Reese, died January 3, 2023, at Bavarian Comfort Care in Bridgeport. She was born October 6, 1919, in Marlette, daughter of the late Otto and Anna (Wilkens) Fischer. She was a 1936 graduate of Marlette High School. On November 13, 1943, she was married to Raymond Burnison in Elmer, MI. He predeceased her January 21, 2006. After her marriage to Mr. Burnison, she and her husband worked at a factory in Detroit making armaments. Her position there qualified her to be a member of the "Rosie the Riviter" national organization. Mrs. Burnison was employed in the billing department at Agrico for fifteen years before her retirement in 1982. She was a former employee of several business in Marlette but her most enjoyable employment was at Zorn's in Marlette and Ma Brown's Pickle Factory in Deckerville. She and helped with the operation of the family farm until it's sale. Alvena was a resident in many areas including, Reese, from 1965-1980 and again from 1988-2021, Mecosta from 1980-1988, Zephyrhills, Florida from 1982-2020, and longtime resident of the Reese, Michigan and Zephyrhills, Florida areas. Her faith in God was strong and during her life she was a as a faithful member of Peace Lutheran Church in Sandusky, Trinity Lutheran Church in Reese, Chapel of the Lakes in Mecosta, Our Savior Lutheran Church in Zephyrhills, and currently at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairgrove. She cherished the time she spent with her family and friends, spending time roller skating in Snover, MI in her earlier years, and quilting with the ladies of her church.

Surviving are her four sons and their spouses, Robert and Charlene Burnison, Thomas and Jacklyn Burnison, Harold and Cindy Burnison, and Chuck and Gayle Burnison, eleven grandchildren and many great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Alvena was predeceased by five brothers and their spouses, Otto and Anna Fischer, Vern and Eva Fischer, Clarence and Francis Fischer, Lee and Ruby Fischer, Leeland and Maryland Fischer, and Kenneth and Mary Ellen Fischer,

In honoring Alvena's wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service to celebrate her life will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2023, from the Grace Lutheran Church in Fairgrove with Reverend Joshua Haller officiating. Alvena's family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Private family inurnment will take place next to husband in the Morretown Cemetery in Snover.
