Her husband, Charles, served with the 37th Iowa Infantry Regiment, Company E; known as the Gray Beard Regiment.
Her sons serving in the Civil War were John W. who served with the 3rd Iowa Infantry, Company H and died in Hudson, MO. in 1861; Francis M. who served with the 3rd Iowa Infantry, Company H, Company C and Company I from 1861 - 1865; George W., who served with the 18th Iowa Infantry Regiment, Company K and died in Springfield, MO. in 1863.
