Mrs. Valentine Shroll, one of the pioneers of the Palouse country, died of pneumonia at the home of her daughter in Seattle on June 7, aged 75 years.
The remains were brought to Colfax for interment beside her husband, who died about eight years ago, and the funeral was held Monday afternoon at the Methodist church, Rev. George Kenoyer officiating.
In 1878 Mr. Shroll took up a homestead on the South Palouse, about five miles from Colfax, which was the family home until about four years ago, when Mrs. Shroll removed to Seattle.
