LuVern Francis Lang, 82, Hays, died Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at Ellis Good Samaritan Center. He was born Oct. 18, 1929, west of Ellis to Cacheus and Regina (Graf) Lang.

He worked in the oil field on drilling rigs most of his life. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays.

Survivors include three sons, LuVern Lang Jr. and wife, Pam, Tribune, Norman Lang and wife, Rose Marie, La Crosse, and Mark Lang and wife, Lori, Hays; a daughter, Mary Engel and husband, Cliff, Hays; a brother, Kenneth Lang, Evans, Colo.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Patrick Lang.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 18th and Vine; private family inurnment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Cline's Mortuary of Hays, 1919 E. 22nd, and from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested to the Lang family to be decided at a later date.
