Early years helped his family with farming and he & Valois owned their own farm near Rockwell from 1940-1972. Lived on the farm until they moved to town of Rockwell in 1980.
He enjoyed fishing, golf and games with friends. In later years enjoyed traveling to warmer climates of Florida, Texas, California, and Arizona.
