Samuel Cox Jr., 85, of Latrobe, went to be with his precious Lord on Friday, March 15, 2013, in Abbey Hospice, Social Circle, Ga. He was born April 2, 1927, in Latrobe, a son of the late Samuel and Amelia (Walbaum) Cox. Samuel was a member of St. Vincent Basilica. He was a retired lab technician from Westinghouse Electric, Derry, with 38 years of service. A World War II veteran, he had served in the Navy. He was a member of American Legion Post 515 and BPO Elks Lodge 907. He was an avid golfer, and was known for his beautiful blue eyes. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry and William Cox; and two sisters, Annabelle Irwin and Elizabeth Spellman. Samuel is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Violet R. (Regula) Cox, of Latrobe; a son, Daniel Cox and his wife, Cheryl, of Monroe, Ga.; two daughters, Michele O'Neil, of Latrobe, and Jocelyn Smith and her husband, Brian, of Suwanee, Ga.; a brother, James Cox and his wife, Janet, of Latrobe; two sisters, Janet Adams and her husband, Charles, of Garland, Texas, and Florence Keba, of Ligonier; six grandchildren, Shannon Baker and her husband, Chad, of Boulder, Colo., Navy Lt. Brennan Cox and his wife, Asha, of Pensacola, Fla., Taylor Cox and his wife, Brittany, of Boulder, Colo., Ryan O'Neil and Karly, of Denver, Colo., Chase Smith, of Atlanta, Ga., and Chelsea Smith, of Athens, Ga.; five great-grandchildren, Bella and Adelyn Cox, of Pensacola, Fla., Grady O'Neil, of Denver, Colo., Isla Baker, of Boulder, Colo., and Archer Daniel Cox, of Boulder, Colo.; and five sisters-in-law, Mrs. Max (Jackie) Regula, of Latrobe, Mrs. Ray (Joanne) Regula, of Latrobe, Mrs. Walter (Emily) Regula, of Latrobe, Lois Cox, of Derry, and Jane Cox, of Derry. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. Military services will be conducted at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home by American Legion Post 515 and VFW Post 3414. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Vincent Basilica. Entombment will follow in St. Clair Cemetery, Greensburg. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Action for Animals, P.O. Box 814, Latrobe, PA 15650 or to "Playland 2," c/o The Latrobe Foundation, P.O.
