Maxine Cleona Searcy, 92, was born March 1, 1917 in Fredonia, Iowa, the daughter of Ernest and Virgie (Orr) Luckey. She passed away peacefully at Bright Kavanagh House on Saturday, June 13, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 18, 2009 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St., with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Maxine was an over 50-year member of both the Eastern Star, Acanthus Chapter #530, and Douglas Avenue Presbyterian Church. Maxine is survived by her sons, Charles (Vicki) Searcy and Luckey Searcy; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; sisters, Pauline Holm and Wanda Schlein; many nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and many wonderful friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles I. Searcy; her daughter, Joyce Grosland; her daughter-in-law, Beth Searcy; her parents and six siblings. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League in loving memory of Maxine.
