Flora Terpstra, 85, of Rock Valley died Thursday in a hospital in Rock Valley after a long illness.
Services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the First Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley. The Rev. Roger Bultman officiated, burial was in Valley View Cemetery. Visitation was from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday in Porter Funeral Home.
Mrs. Terpstra, the former Flora De Young, was born Feb. 19, 1898, in Holland. She came to the United States at the age of 10.
She married Jake Terpstra Feb. 1, 1917, in Marion, Mich. They lived in South Dakota and Washington State before moving to Rock Valley in 1949 where they operated the Coast-to-Coast Store.
Survivors include her husband; six sons, Harry of Brooten, Minn., Agner and Floyd, both of Rock Valley, Clarence of Hawarden, Jake and Peter, both of Holland, Mich.; two daughters, Ada Terpstra of Denver, Colo, and Mrs. Alvin (Agnes) Harmelink of Sioux Center; one sister, Mrs. Alice Stap of Lynden, Wash.; 33 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.
