Marilyn Carter, 79, of Bedford went to be with the Lord Thursday, March 14, 2013. She passed away at her home and is now joyfully at peace in her heavenly home. Funeral: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Park Funeral Services in North Richland Hills. Burial will follow in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Marilyn was born Sept. 27, 1933, to Bennie and Inga Louise Heinze in Vermillion, S.D. Marilyn touched each of our lives in a special way. She was a combination of strength and compassion and showed a great capacity to love through acts of kindness and service to others. Her life was devoted to her faith in Jesus Christ and to her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marilyn will be most remembered for the beautiful and graceful way she lived her life. She had a special gift for noticing and appreciating the beauty in the simple things around her. It was evident as she shared a love of travel with her husband. Together they were privileged to visit most of the United States and many of the countries in Europe. Because of her love for the Lord she made sure to visit the cathedrals wherever they went and light a candle for her family and friends. A perfect day at home would be sitting outside by her garden, candles lit, birds chirping, music playing, drinking coffee and laughing with her family. We will miss her talents in cooking, gardening, singing, sewing and the ability to make every holiday a special event. Most of all, we will miss being greeted with her big hugs and the way her beautiful smile would light up a room. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Jerry and Bennie Heinze; and twin sister, Carolyn Johnson. Survivors: Left behind to cherish her memory are her husband, Mark Carter of Bedford; son, Gregory Carter and his wife, Anne, of Denmark; daughters, Michelle Metz and her husband, Roger, of Keller, Nancy Wilson and her husband, Tony, of Lawrenceville, N.J.; brother, Vernon Heinze of Vero Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Emilia, Benjamin, Sheldon, Krystin, Nathaniel, Ryan, Natalie and Jeremy; and great-grandsons, Bertram and Vilheim.
