Marcus Gary 'M.G.' Addis, 81, of Anderson, SC passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital, Greenville, SC.
Born in Oconee County, SC, he was the son of the late Carzel 'Red' Addis and Hattie Viola Vickery Addis. He was married to the late Annie Ruth Bannister Addis.
He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golf. Gary was a veteran of the US Army having served during the Korean Conflict, as well as Past Master of the Hiram Masonic Lodge, Life Member of the VFW, Southern Bell Pioneers, member of the Rocky River Fishing Club and past President and member of the Anderson Field Trial Association.
He is survived by his children: Marcus 'Mark Mark' Addis II and fiancé Lynda Nix and Rhonda Addis Tippett and spouse William L. 'Bill' Tippett; sister Barbara Jean Massey; grandchildren: Justin David Addis and Aidan Marie' Rose Addis; niece Andrea Medved and nephew Matthew Shane Massey.
In addition to his parents and spouse; he is also preceded in death by a grandson Joshua Dillon Addis.
Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 pm at MJ Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 officiated by Rev. Johnny Vickery with full Masonic Rites and Military Honors.
The family will be at the home of son Mark Addis and will receive friends on Saturday, March 16, 2013 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Sosebee Mortuary, Downtown Chapel.
Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory, Downtown Chapel, will be assisting the family with the arrangements.
