Shirley A. (Waltenbaugh) Tomko, 76, formerly of Leechburg, died Thursday, March 14, 2013, in Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights. Born May 5, 1936, in Ford Cliff, she was a daughter of the late Chester C. and Freda (Wolfe) Waltenbaugh. She was a member of Christ the King Parish in Gilpin Township. Prior to her retirement in 2004, she was employed as a cook by the former Penn Grill in Leechburg and the Paradise Cove in Schenley for more than 25 years. She was the former president of Friendship Apartments in Leechburg for many years. Mrs. Tomko loved to be outdoors, doing arts and crafts, playing cards, going to casinos and especially spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Tomko, on Jan. 7, 1993; brothers, Richard, Raymond, Delbert, Robert, James and Kenneth Waltenbaugh; and a sister, Nancy J. Waltenbaugh. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Jane Stitt (James), of Leechburg, and Anna Marie Crowe (Averill), of Vandergrift; four grandchildren, Justin, Jennifer, Joseph and Steven; two great-grandchildren, Chasity and Kobe; and two sisters, Betty Moore, of Apollo, and Dolores M. Heckman, of Leechburg. Friends will be welcomed by her family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in CLAWSON FUNERAL and CREMATION CENTER INC., 170 Main St., Leechburg, (724-842-1051), where her funeral ceremonies will be held at 10 a.m. Monday with her pastor, the Rev. Joseph V. Trupkovich, officiating. Interment will be made in Ford City Cemetery, Manor Township. Her family encourages memorials in her memory be made to the American Heart Association or the Diabetes Foundation.
