Madge Okey Wright Dickerson
June 25, 1919 ~ March 14, 2013

Madge Okey Wright Dickerson peacefully returned to her Heavenly Father on March 14, 2013.

She was born June 25, 1919 in Lehi, Utah to Harvey Clark Okey & Zella Elizabeth Cox.

Madge had a wonderful childhood surrounded and nurtured with love. She was raised on a farm, where she spent her time learning the value of work and the joy of nature with some of her best friends, her siblings. She graduated from Lehi High School in 1937, and was very proud of her Seminary graduation.

She met Leland Dean Wright on a blind date and they were married on August 25, 1938. They bought a house in American Fork shortly thereafter, where she lived for 70 years.

Leland suddenly passed in 1958, and Madge married Cecil Dickerson in 1971, who passed away 15 months later.

She worked as a matron in physical therapy at the American Fork Training School. She loved the Utah Jazz, listening to her records, dancing, baking, gardening her roses, and anything pink.

She connected with people everywhere she went, was a wonderful and loyal friend, and enjoyed years of participating in her Secret Pal Club. She had many other close relationships as well. She was always welcoming with a kind smile and loving hug.

Madge was quite a character and kept us laughing till the end of her days. Even though she was legally blind for much of her life, she could always see the good in others and the humor in her everyday challenges.

Madge's family was the joy of her life. She wanted them to know that she had a testimony that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. Her advice to her posterity was to stay close to Heavenly Father and the church.

We are thankful for her determination in raising her sons and for her love towards her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had tremendous courage and strength, and we all want to live better lives because of her example.

We also appreciate the loving care Madge received from The Charleston at Cedar Hills during the past year and a half.

Madge is survived by her two children: Leland Glen Wright and Robert Craig Wright; her 10 grandchildren: Cindy, Corey, Dawn, Shelly, Alex, Stacy, Andy, Jeff, Jennifer, and Katie; and her 27 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husbands, as well as her parents, and her siblings: Mildred, Eva, George, and Donna.

A public viewing will be held at Anderson & Sons Mortuary, American Fork, on Sunday, March 17, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 18, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the American Fork 4th Ward Building, 455 E. 300 N., American Fork with a public viewing from 12:45-1:45 pm.

Interment held at the American Fork Cemetery.
