WILTON, Iowa -- Services for Ernest H. Hansen, of Wilton, will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Bentley Funeral Home, Wilton. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. Hansen died Monday, May 3, 1999, at Simpson Memorial Home, West Liberty. He was employed as a captain at Rock Island Arsenal Fire Department for 25 years. He retired in 1978. He received the medal of honor for saving an 11-year-old boy in 1965. He also did custom farming and drove a truck for many years. He was born Aug. 4, 1917, in Muscatine County. He married Erna Beinke in 1943 in Muscatine. She died in 1991. During World War II, he served with the Navy in the South Pacific. A memorial fund has been established. Survivors include sons, Rex, Muscatine, and Randy, Wilton; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Joan Treiber, Davenport.
