Peter Hauck descends from some of the original pioneers in Columbia County. 1815 Peter's father, Johannes, built the first iron furnace in Columbia County, and in 1821 he added a Mill, the first in Maine Township.
Peter made his living at farming, settling his family in Beaver Valley and there he stayed until his death in 1872 at the age of 59 years, 3 months, 1 day.
