MRS. GLADYS MAE BURNER
Gladys Mae Timberlake Burner was born February 12, 1883, at Baileyville, Kansas to Daniel T. Timberlake and Eva May Hartman Timberlake. She passed away at the Sabetha Hospital September 25, 1969, following a broken hip suffered in a fall in her home, September 23.
She came to Sabetha where she taught in the Sabetha schools. In 1906 she was married to Dr. E. L. Burner who practiced dentistry in Sabetha until 1951. He preceded her in death March 5, 1951.
Mrs. Burner was a charter member of the Monday study Club which was organized in 1912. She was a member of the Sabetha Congregational Church. She and her husband were charter members of the Sabetha Country Club. Early in her marriage she played the cello for several years in a ladies orchestra in Sabetha. After the death of her husband she enrolled for a course at Purdue University in preparation to serving as a sorority housemother at Washburn University at Topeka, for on year.
Mrs. Burner leaves one son, Dr. John D. Burner of Newton, Kan.; three daughters, Mrs. Sandford (Kathleen) Davis of Tempe, Ariz., Mrs. Phil (Jane) Weaver of Bowie, Md., Mrs. Jess (Jean) LaDow of Wichita, Kan.; 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; one brother, George B. Timberlake, St. Louis, Mo.; five sisters, Mrs. John Wimer, Arapahoe, Neb., Mrs. Clarence Bigalow, Gold Hill, Ore., Mrs. Fred Mueller, Coeur d'Alene, Ida., Mrs. LaVosta Knight, St. Louis, Mo. and Mrs. Harry Homeyer, St. Louis, Mo.
Interment was in Sabetha Cemetery.
