Mr. Amyx was a native of Hawkins County, and was a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church here.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Elsie Mann Amyx, Cleveland; one daughter, Mrs. Thomas Marithers, Erie, PA; and one step-son, Marvin Carter, Fort Worth, TX; his father, S.W. Amyx, Kingsport; Four brothers, Henry, Kingsport, Ray, Hawkins County, Wilse Jr. Fordtown, and Claborn, Kingsport; three sisters, Mrs. Lucian Davis, Gate City, Mrs. Albert Davis, Kingsport, and Mrs. Eddie Edwards, Van Dyke, MI.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2 pm Wednesday at the Highland Park Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. Bishop Morgan K Forbes, assisted by the Rev. Eugene Garrett, will officiate. Burial will be at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Hawkins County.
The body was removed from Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home to the home of his father, at 1124 Pierce St., West View Park, at 2 pm Tuesday.
