Leonard B. Barkley, age 89, of Clovis, NM passed away peacefully, after a lengthy illness, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, TX.
Leonard was preceded in death by his mother Bessie Barkley and his father Alvin B. Barkley; his son: Terry Barkley and two sisters: Gladys Marchman and Oda Mae Deats.
Leonard is survived by his wife: Bonnie, of the home; one son: Sam Barkley and his wife Betty Jane of Clovis, NM; one sister: Dorothy Crawford of Lubbock, TX; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Leonard was born on May 19, 1923, on the family farm that was twelve miles SE of Grady, NM to Alvin B. and Bessie (Ray) Barkley. He married Bonnie Collins in 1967 in Clovis, NM. Leonard loved his Lord and worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for 30 years as a bridge inspector. He was a member of Parkland Baptist Church.
Funeral services are at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Steed-Todd Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Boydstun officiating. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.
