James Anderson, better known as "Paka" was born on August 9, 1914, in Holmes County, Lexington, Mississippi to John and Leonia Polk Anderson.

James attended Saints Industrial and Literary School in Lexington, and at an early age, he accepted Christ and joined the Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church.

In 1939, James left Lexington with his mother, sister, Lillie Mae (June), and his twin brother, John to start a new life in Los Angeles, California. In 1940, James was united in holy matrimony to Aggiethine Friar. And out of their union seven children were born. They were married for 50 years until her passing away in 1990.

James worked for the Pacific Railroad Lockheed Aircraft, Douglas Aircraft, and the City of Los Angeles for approximately 30 years.

In 1950, James and Aggiethine joined Belmont Missionary Baptist Church. James served on the Deacon Board, Board of Trustees, Building Fund, and Finance Committee. James remained a member until his passing away.

"Paka" was a quiet man, dependable and patient. He was always available for his family and friends. In June of 2003, James was admitted to Courtyard Care Center, where he remained a patient until the Lord called him home.

He leaves to cherish his memory: four daughters, Dorothy Holmes and Mary Anderson, both of Los Angeles, CA, Willierene Johnson Cerritos, CA and Barbara Hill of Carson, CA; one son, Jack Anderson of Monrovia, CA (his son, James Anderson, Jr and daughter, Evelyn Rupert preceded him in death.), three-sons-law, one daughter-in-law, eight grandchildren, seven great, grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Active Pallbearers were: Bryan Hill, Tony Johnson, James Lawrence, Daniel Cross, Percy Simmons, and Jonathan Dunbar.

Honorary Pallbearers were: Deacons of Belmont Missionary Baptist Church.
