Tuesday last Mrs. O. B. Dutton, of Missouri Valley, Iowa, died at her residence after a brief illness. The remains were brought to this place and laid to rest in the Nevada Cemetery beside some other members of the family. The bereaved family have the sincere sorrow of the citizens of this place in this their hour of trouble.

DIED:--At Missouri Valley, Iowa, April 24, 1888, Mrs. Elizabeth B. Dutton, wife of O. B. Dutton.

Mrs. Dutton was born in Canada in 1835, and became the second wife of O. B. Dutton in 1858 in Delaware county, Iowa. Six children were born of this union three of whom, Jay, Miss Jennie and Omer are living. The family lived for many years at Nevada, Iowa, where Mr. Dutton was, as now, engaged in banking. In 1882 the family moved to this city where they have become well known and honored citizens. Mrs. Dutton has been ill several years and about two years ago it was known that she was afflicted with cancer. She has been a great sufferer, but bore it with wonderful fortitude.

She was a believer in the doctrine of spiritualism and the funeral services from the residence this morning were conducted by Otis Briggs*, of Nevada, Iowa, a former neighbor and life long friend of the family. His remarks were chaste, beautiful and ennobling advocating the immortality of the soul, the wisdom of social culture, pure living and the certainty of a higher Spiritual life beginning with the release of the spirit from the living body and unconfined by time and space.

The body was taken to Nevada, Iowa, at 11 a. m., accompanied by relatives and family, for interment. The services at the residence were attended by kindly neighbors who did all that could be done for the bereaved. A most beautiful floral arch beside the casket bore the word "Mother" telling the sad loss to that home in a manner more touching than a voice from the spirit world.--Missouri Valley News.

*Otis Briggs was the father of Elizabeth Dutton's daughter-in-law, Lida (Briggs) Dutton, Mrs. Jay G. Dutton.
