In the early morning hours of Monday, March 11, 2013, God' will was completed and Jesus the Savior came and took his beloved son, Larry D. Baldridge, to his eternal home. He now rests in peace. He won the race after five long years of fighting cancer twice. He fought with courage, hope, and strength each day with the Lord at his side.

The funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Rev. Sojan George, celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls. A Rosary and Vigil service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2013 in the chapel of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home.

He was born Larry David Baldridge on April 29, 1943 in Hueyville, Kentucky to Edgille Baldridge and Della Marshall Baldridge. He graduated from Martin High School, Martin, Kentucky in 1961, and in 1962, he entered the United States Air Force to live his dream of flying airplanes. In 1972 he was stationed in Altus, Oklahoma, and on August 17, 1973, he married the love of his life, Lois Gonzalez Baldridge.

His twenty years of active duty in the United States Air Force flew him all over the world, stationed in various state side and oversea military bases. He never fulfilled his dream of being an actual Air Force pilot because God saw different. God gave him a gift with his hands, and instead of flying airplanes, he became an aircraft mechanic working on various types of aircraft during his military career. He knew everything about airplanes and that was his passion. He retired in February of 1982 only to shortly find a job at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, working with Northrup Worldwide Aircraft, doing the same thing he did for twenty years in the military. In 1986, he went to work for the United States Post Office and remained there until his retirement in 2004.

Larry was a simple man, a man of few words, but he always knew God had given him a talent with his hands. There wasn't a home improvement project or automobile that his hands could not fix. If he didn't have the knowledge, he found it by tearing it apart and using his gifted talent to make it brand new or back to running condition. His other passion in life was watching television and listening to music. He loved the History channel, Animal Kingdom, game shows, and fast action sci-fi movies. The remote control was never far from his reach nor a music cd to play. In 2007 he began a fight for his life with lung cancer. He remained positive and courageous throughout his entire fight, becoming a spokesman to anyone he encountered smoking, he felt strongly in telling his story and encouraged those who smoke, to quit. In 2011, cancer returned for the second time with a vengeance and again, he gave it all he had to beat it again. He faced each day with God's grace until his body grew tired and he couldn't fight any longer.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Edgille and Della Baldridge; his sisters, Thomasine Patrick, LaVonne Lafferty; and a grandson, Christopher Baldridge.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Baldridge; his daughter, Brenda Lipps and husband Jason; his son Dave Baldridge and wife Patricia; two grandsons, Dustin and Jordan Baldridge; brothers, Edgille Douglas Baldridge and wife Janet of Talbot, Tennessee, and Garry Baldridge and wife Mary Lois of Martin, Kentucky; a sister, Daphne Reid and husband Ronald of Lexington, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.
