My Grandfather, Married to Martha(Mary?) Fussell for over 50 years. I'm told that in his early years he Co-owned a small Grocery Store with My Father,Charles M. Jacob,In Savannah, my birthplace.I believe the store was located near Hunter Army Airfield, once Hunter (Air Force)Airfield where Pulaski School is currently located.
In his older life when I knew him,He was an independent landscaper who owned his own Dump-truck and a small Caterpillar Bulldozer he transported between jobs. My older Brothers- David (Butch) and Robert (Bobby) and I went with him on several occasions to help chop trees and move brush. At the end of a workday he would stop at a store and give me a dollar, which I filled a bag with a comic and several candy-bars and a large drink. He died in his '70s while driving hid truck to a job. Apparently he felt the chest pains and pulled to the roadside and was found sitting in the cab with his still-smoking pipe in his hand. He was religious and an avid Fisherman. My sister Helen, still has family pics of us all from them. I was 13 at the time he died and he was the most influential male in my lifetime.
