Terrill Ray Gibbs, 60, of Nibley passed away at home after a 6½ year battle against a glioblastoma brain tumor. Terrill was born Dec. 2, 1952, in Tremonton, Utah, to Edwin Ray Gibbs and Leah Watt Gibbs McDonald. He was raised in Paradise, Utah, and eventually settled in Nibley where he lived on his horse ranch for 27 years.

Terrill was employed at E.A. Miller/JBS for 41 years until his retirement in 2012. He then continued training racehorses at his home.
Terrill was involved with horses his entire life, learning how to break and train horses from his father at a young age. At 14 he was a jockey until the early '70s when he began his own racehorse training business. During that time he also became a member of the Skyline Chariot and many other horse racing associations.

Terrill married Bonnie Sue Thomson on Oct. 15, 1983. She helped manage the racehorse business and together they raised two children, Tori and Tyler.

Terrill is survived by his wife Bonnie; their children Tori Gibbs and Tyler Gibbs, both of Nibley, Misty Bradshaw of Paradise, Holly Black of Logan and Jesse (Mindi) Gibbs of Paradise - all from a previous marriage; five grandchildren, Max, Hunter, Trevor, Tracen and Chance; sisters Debbie Gibbs and Raylene van Leeuwen (Gary) of Brigham City; and stepfather Leon McDonald of Brigham City. He was preceded in death by both his parents.

Services will be held at the Maple Valley Ward chapel at 360 W. 3200 South in Nibley, under the direction of SereniCare. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 10:30 to 11 a.m. Friday. The funeral will be at noon Friday. Interment will be in the Paradise Cemetery.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the Huntsman Cancer Institute; as well as Carol McDonald, Angie Wheeler and the staff at the Community Nursing Center.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that a donation be made to Community Nursing Services at 221 Gateway Drive #G, Providence, UT 84332.
