Emily Mae Coddington Worthington, 71, of 236 Foster Rd., Cathlamet, died Oct. 24, 1993, in a Longview nursing home. She was born Feb. 6, 1922, in Cherokee, OK, to Harley and Florence Russell Coddington.
She graduated from Wahkiakum High School and moved to Cathlamet in 1922. She was a homemaker, a member of United Church of Christ (Congregational) of Cathlamet, and was Sunday School superintendent there for 40 years. She was a member of the Homemakers Club, Elochoman Grange, Pomona Grange, and American Dairy Wives Association, which she was instrumental in starting. She was active in 4-H many years, a member of the Rebekah Lodge and the OES Maple Chapter. She and her husband raised 25 foster children.
On Nov. 26, 1944 she married Jack Worthington, who survives, with two daughters, Zola Collins of Longview, and Donna Chandler of Central Point, OR; a son, Larry Lafever of Central Point; a sister, Naomi Drake of Oxnard, CA; a brother, Melvin Yager of Baker, OR; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Deceased are a son, Paul, in 1948; a daughter, Nancy, in 1951; and a sister, Louise Vaughn in 1988.
Services will be at 1 pm Friday at her church with Rev. Joan Hamm officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
