L.D. Parsons, 94, of Robinson, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013, at a local hospital. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 13, at the Pecan Grove Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Randy Hughes and the Rev. Marvin Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.

L.D. was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma, to the late Joe and Nettie Parsons. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 to 1946, and during the Korean War in 1950. L.D. married Barbara A. Hillis in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, on Aug. 28, 1943. He has been a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church since 1965, and served as a deacon for many years. He was a longtime employee of Sinclair Refining Co., and retired from British Petroleum in 1985. L.D. was a proud member of the American Legion and the VFW.

He was preceded in death by his son, Merle Dee Parsons.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Barbara; daughter, Vickie Gibbs and husband, George, of Mart; sister, Betty Jo McClure and husband, Bill, of Norman, Okla.; daughter-in-law, Barbara Jean Parsons, of Keller; grandchildren: Kevin Gibbs, of Riesel, Traci Kimberling and husband, Chad, of Granbury, Tami Parsons, of Lorena, Kimberly Green and husband, Rick, of Humble, Toni Peebles and husband, Justin, of Hewitt; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
