MURPHY, John D. – Age 86 of Gallatin formerly of Memphis passed away March 9, 2013 surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Murphy was a giving, hardworking, quick witted man that was always helping people even when they didn't ask for help. He lived his life for others and always looked at life with an optimistic view. He was a very personable man that was greatly respected.

He enjoyed reading, fishing, tinkering with anything restoring antique cars and being with his family. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend and man to all he knew. He will be greatly missed but always remembered.

He was a member of Chevy Car Club in Hendersonville, Antique Automobile Club of America, Kiwanis Club in Memphis, Gulf Oil Retiree's, and Bethel Primitive Baptist Church in Goodlettsville.

Preceded in death by his son, John David Murphy. Survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Pauline Murphy; adoring children, Sharon Powers (Dennis) & Mark Murphy (Carole); grandchildren, Travis Nabors (Heather) & Lisa Graves (Caleb); great-grandchildren, Kaitlynne Nabors, Hayden Nabors, Brittney Conyer & Kayli Graves; sister, Laverne Fite (Sonny); several nieces, nephews, & extended family members.

A Life Celebration will be held 2pm Tuesday at Crestview Funeral Home with burial to follow in Sumner Memorial Gardens.
