Henry was a 27 year old Druggist from New York, when he was drafted at Boston on July 21, 1863 and mustered that same day into the 18th Massachusetts Infantry as a Private in Co. C. He was taken prisoner on May 4, 1864 while his regiment was on the march toward the Wilderness in Virginia and probably after straggling. Held at Andersonville Prison in Georgia, he died of Scorbutus (scurvy) on September 12, 1864 and was buried in the prison cemetery, Grave #: 8589.
