Veloris Eleanor Miller passed away peacefully at Johnson Memorial Care Center in Dawson on Monday, February 25, 2013, at the age of 94.

Funeral service was held Saturday, March 2, 2013, at 10:30 AM, at Dawson Covenant Church in rural Dawson; Pastor Erik Carlson officiated; Rev. John Noralnd read the scriptures: Psalm 23, I Corinthians 13:4-13, Philippians 4:4-7; organist, Ardyce Thompson accompanied soloist, Jeff Thompson singing This World Is Not My Home and the congregational hymns: All The Way My Savior Leads Me, I Have A Friend Who Loveth Me, and Great Is Thy Faithfulness. The casketbearers were: Jeremy Miller, Chad Weinhold, Perry Miller, Adam Miller, Jeff Anderson, Lynn Hanson. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Visitation was Friday at the Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson from 5-7:00 PM, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM, and at the church for one hour before services on Saturday.

Veloris Eleanor (Anderson) Miller was born September 17, 1918, in Maxwell Township, rural Dawson. Her parents, Albert and Ida (Oftedahl) Anderson, later moved to Providence, where Albert was a blacksmith for many years. Veloris attended country school Dist. #38 in Providence and graduated from Dawson High School in 1937. She married Wallace Miller on September 17, 1939 at the Mission Covenant Church in rural Dawson. Seven children were born: Eleanor, Betty, Elaine, Richard, Stanley, Janet, and Dale.

Veloris was a life-long member of the Dawson Covenant Church and her participation in church activities were a very important part of her life. Veloris and Wallace enjoyed traveling, making several trips to Sweden, as well as Norway, Denmark, Switzerland, plus most of the states in the US. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and sewing. She made many quilts for the family. She was devoted to her family and always had room for family, friends, and neighbors at meal time.

She is survived by her children: Elaine (Michael) DeJesus of Boyd, Stanley (Diane) Miller of rural Dawson, Janet (Merlin) Weinhold of St. Anthony Village, MN, and Dale (Cindy) Miller of rural Dawson; nine grandchildren: Paula (Chris) Niosi, Perry Miller, Jeremy (Amanda) Miller, Jennifer Miller, Chad (Gail) Weinhold, Crystal Weinhold, Adam Miller, Amber Miller, and Amanda Miller; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Gladys (Albert) Damrose of Rockford, IL; sister-in-law, Doreen Anderson of Bloomington, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Wallace on April 19, 1996, infant daughters, Eleanor and Betty; son, Richard; brothers: Donald Anderson and Raymond Anderson; a sister, Lauraine Hanson; brother-in-law, Lloyd Hanson; and sister-in-law, Margaret Anderson.
