Mr Bynum was a retired Air Force Pilot and had served in Europe, Korea and Vietnam. Between his European and Asian tours of duty, he and his first wife and his two step-daughters lived in Coahoma, Texas, where he worked for the Coahoma Independent School District as elementary school principal and math teacher. He also taught PE and served as assistant coach of athletics.
After his retirement from active military duty, he and his wife, Lois, settled in Dallas, Texas where they established and operated the Tic-Toc Clock Shop on Garland Road.
He was survived by Lois J. Bynum, his wife of thirty-nine years. Only twenty-two days after his passing, she died also and was interred in the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery near his grave.
