James Huey III was born in Chester Co. South Carolina and was about five years when his father left to serve in the Revolutionary War. He married Priscilla Franklin and they migrated to Ouachita Parish, Louisiana, with his extended Huey family. Old records found in the county courthouse indicate that he was a planter and a doctor.
