A. D. Edens, 65, long-time resident passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Jan. 5 at Memorial Hospital of Texas County. The son of Tonie and Ione Evelyn (Mills) Edens, A. D. was born May 31, 1931 at Leonard, Texas. He attended school at Plainview, Texas and Hereford, Texas.
A. D. was united in marriage to Cleta Stowers on March 25, 1955 at Friona, Texas. They moved to Guymon from Friona in 1955 and have been residents since that time.
He was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. A. D. and his brother, Bill, were cofounder of the Texas County Sheriff's Posse, and he was a member of Sunset Lane Baptist Church.
Mr. Edens was owner/operator of Edens Trucking in Guymon.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Bill Edens.
Survivors include his wife, Cleta of the home; one son, Danny Edens of Guymon; two daughters, Amanda and her husband, Waco Derrick of Guymon and Toni and her husband, Carl Nolan of Optima; five grandchildren, Tiffany and Taniel Jones, Jaclyn Edens, Trae Cobo and Brody Nolan; one sister, Barbara and husband Max Morgan of Ardmore, Okla; and one sister-in-law, Jeannie Edens of Guymon.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, Jan. 8 at 2 p.m. from Sunset Lane Baptist Church followed by interment in the Elmhurst Cemetery under the direction of the Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
