Marvin Doyle Higgins passed away on March 17, 2005 at Goodall Withcher Hospital in Clifton, TX.

He was the son of L. W. and Juanita Allen Higgins and grew up in Dallas and went to school at St. Marks Academy and graduated from Carrollton High School where he was a track letterman. He also attended the University of Texas at Arlington.

He moved to Covington in 1975 and had his own sheet metal contracting business in Blum for 25 yeas.

Doyle was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church where he was an ordained deacon; served on the Stewardship Committee and the Pastoral Search Committee and had served on the Blum ISD Site-Based Committee for 8 years. He was a model railroad enthusiast and was researching the history of Blum. He enjoyed truck farming and was known for this cantaloups and melons.

Doyle was a good caretaker and loving grandfather to his grandkids. He was a jokester and kept everyone in good humor.

Preceding him in death were two brothers, Houston Higgins and Dearl Higgins.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Higgins of Blum; parents, L. W. and Juanita Higgins of Allen; mother-in-law, Beth Day of Whitney; children, Leslie Higgins O’Neil and husband, Ted, Jr. of Whitney, Darrell Higgins and wife, Cindy Elaine of Rio Vista; grandchildren, Ashley, Reagan and Macy Higgins of Blum, Brandon and Craig O’Neil of Whitney, Austin Day of Rio Vista, Brandon Day of Kennedale; several nieces and nephews.Memorials may be made to Cedar Creek Baptist Church Debt Reduction, 5643 FM 933, Whitney, TX 76692.
