Donald R. Jeter, 77 year old Woodward resident, died Sunday, March 3, 2013 at his home in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2013 in the First Baptist Church of Woodward. Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.

Donald Ray Jeter was born on May 3, 1935 in Archer City, Texas to Jesse Ray and Anna Lorene (Revier) Jeter. Don was reared in Wichita Falls, Texas and graduated from high school there. He attended Midwestern University in Wichita Falls, before serving his country in the United States Army. Don was united in marriage to Gloria June Bell on April 29, 1962 in Weston, West Virginia. They made their home in Woodward and have lived here since that time. Don worked in the oilfield all of his life, working at McCullough Tool Company, before owning Woodward Service, Midwestern Rentals, and Jeter Service. Don retired in 1997.

Don was a member of the First Baptist Church of Woodward. He had served Woodward as a City Commissioner and was part of the Woodward Elks Rodeo Committee in the 1980's. He is on the Rodeo Committee Wall of Fame. Don was a member of the Woodward Softball Association in the 1970's. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, horse racing, stock car racing, flying airplanes, but most of all he loved being with his family.

He is survived by his wife Gloria Jeter of the home; two sons, Jon Jeter , Greg Jeter and wife Delaina; two daughters, Jan Gage and husband Kenneth, Pam Baldwin; one sister, Mary Rigsby and husband Bill; ten grandchildren, Addison Gerdes, Garrett Gerdes, Christina McSperitt, Josh Gage, Meggan Wilcoxson, Colby Jeter, Rayna Jeter, Jeb Jeter, Shawn Baldwin, Jesse Baldwin; six great-grandchildren, Maycee, Tyson, Kade, Emma, Zach and Dylan; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, JoAnn Race, Janice Raymond and husband Kenneth, Shirley Scarberry, Ronald Bell and wife Donna; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Lorene Jeter and two sisters, Peggy Sullivan and Pearl Hamilton.

Memorials may be made to Hospice or the First Baptist Church of Woodward with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
