Mrs. Bradner, 95, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 28, 2009, at her home in Lynchburg. She was born Feb. 10, 1914, in Eagle Rock. She was one of 12 children of Joshua and Fanny Layne.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey H. Bradner, and eight of her siblings.

She was a devoted wife and a loving mother who dedicated her life to putting others before herself. She was a faithful Christian who loved the Old Time Gospel Hour with Dr. Jerry Falwell, Jonathan and Charles, and was known as Nanny to all those who loved her.

Survivors left to cherish her memory include three daughters, Dolly Kidd and husband, Ronald Sr., of Concord, Linda Nuckles and husband, David, of Madison Heights, and Bonnie Parker and husband, Rufus (Junior), of Lynchburg; six grandchildren who adored their Nanny, R.G. Kidd Jr. and wife, Bonnie, Brenda Maxey and husband, Howard, Sharon Wilkes and husband, John, Ann Minnick and husband, Danny, David Nuckles Jr., and Monica Cohn and husband, David; 10 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; three very sweet and dear sisters, Mary Wright, Grace Vest and Virginia Nicely, all of Clifton Forge; and a very special friend and loving caregiver, Vicky Bodtmann.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, June 30, 2009, at Tharp Funeral Home and Crematory on Breezewood Drive. The funeral will be held in the Pate Chapel at Thomas Road Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2009. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
