John Russell Dies In McAllen, Texas Of Heart Attack

John Russell, fruit and produce merchant of Idaho and Texas, and former Sanford resident, who recently visited Sanford with Mrs. Russell after an absence of more than 15 years, died suddenly last night in McAllen, Texas, of a heart attack, according to word received by his nephew, Fordyce Russell.
Mr. Russell was born in Kansas and was 68 years old. He lived in Sanford about 14 years and built the large home on East Second Street later occupied by Dr. Marshall (*). He left Sanford 15 years ago to engage in the produce business in Caldwell, Idaho.
With Mrs. Russell, he recently visited their son, Howard Russell, S/2c, USNR, who is attached to an air control and radar unit at the Vero Beach Naval Air Station. Another son, Edmond, was recently killed while serving as an Army aerial gunner in New Guinea.
Survivors in Seminole County include a brother, H.T. Russell of Lake Mary, a niece, Mrs. John R. Jones, and three nephews, Ralph Chapman, Fordyce Russell and Harry Russell, all of Sanford.
The body will be brought to the Erickson Funeral Home, Thursday morning and the funeral and burial will take place Friday, at a time to be announced later.
